I am Salai Tha Luai, born in a small village named Khiangrawn, Chin State, Myanmar. I was brought up in Christian family and was converted in 1984 when I was exactly 15 years old. My father was a second person who became Christian in our village, and he later became pastor in our village. Unfortunately, when I was attending high school, my father faced stomach cancer, and had gone under surgery in May 1987, but the doctors could not do anything to cure his cancer, and finally my father left his will to me and said, ?b style="mso-bidi-font-weight: normal">Son, I know that I am going to die soon, therefore when you finish your high school you must go to seminary and study God뭩 word and follow my step as pastor.?/i> Then I promised to fulfill what he wanted me to be. Indeed, to become pastor is not what I intended; I rather wanted to become businessman. But I treasured my father뭩 will and prayed that God may help me to be able to fulfill what my father wished me to be. When I finished my high school I was backsliding, and tried to run away from what I promised to my father and I went to India to make money there, but God is faithful and gracious to such unfaithful person even like me that He called me back home after staying in India for one month. On the day when I arrived my village, I received a letter from our Church뭩 Bible seminary mentioning they would accept me as BTh student. I was so surprised, but then I came to understand the reason why I couldn뭪 stay anymore in India, indeed, it was God뭩 call. By God뭩 grace I could finish my BTh in 1995, and my MDiv in 2001. I was serving the Lord as Assistant pastor in my Church as well as lecturing at the Evangelical Presbyterian Seminary in Yangon. I truly thank the Lord that He made me fulfilled my earthly father뭩 will. By experiences
in the ministries, I came to know that my limited knowledge of God뭩
word, and then I started to pray to God for my further study since
2006 to guide me to the right seminary. After praying for 4 years, I
applied to Torch Trinity for my ThM program including full
scholarship in 2010. I was so much grateful when I received a TSMS
confirmation letter from Torch Trinity. This is how a merciful God
has opened a door for me to come to Torch Trinity in 26th
of February 2011. Praise the Lord!!!
From
the day when I arrived at the International Airport of Incheon, I
started to taste the warmness of Torch Trinity through whom the
college sent a student who came to airport to pick me up. Torch
Trinity is truly a wonderful place where people from around the world
stay together, eat together, study together, fellowship together,
share together, help together, etc. It is not only a place where we
can study theology, but also the place where we can learn multi
cultures through brothers and sisters from around the world whom the
Lord brought them here in Torch Trinity for His own glory. Being
living in dormitory, I personally leant a lot from my TSMS colleagues
especially how to live Christ-like life among different cultures, it
is truly a great privilege to share to them and to listen from them.
Through their different testimonies in the ministries I am now much
equipped and have more confident for future ministry. As I finished
my first semester at Torch Trinity I am truly touched by the teaching
of our Godly professors who faithfully bring out the Word of God to
the students. I praise the Lord for His love upon our seminary
providing such Godly professors to equip the students with faithful
teaching of His Word. Not only their teaching in the classes, but
also through the Chapel worship services and other activities such as
vision group, small group etc I am much blessed in my spiritual life.
I am also much blessed through the Korean church where I attended
every Sunday. Thus, I am
unspeakably thankful to the Lord and to the TSMS for their love and
concern that makes my dreams come true to be one of the students at
Torch Trinity. I strongly believe and pray that when I finish my two
years program I will be able to become one of God뭩 useful
instruments to do effective ministry in the country of Myanmar, where
Christianity is still under being control indirectly by the
government itself. My prayer will always goes for Torch Trinity that
God may always give more strength to stand firm against storm of
modern heresies, who always tried to take away the true essence of
God뭩 Word according to their own wisdom. May the Lord uphold our
seminary and give her more strength to be able to spread the truth
more effectively and tirelessly until He comes. Amen!
